The diagram opposite depicts a cross-section for a typical piezo sensor installation, dimensions for the slot will vary depending on the type of sensor being installed. Once cut the slot needs to be dried and any residual debris needs to be cleared. The sensor is then installed into the bottom of the slot as per manufacturers instructions with the tails being taken off to the control cabinet. Once the installation is complete the slot is backfilled with resin to surface level. Two resins from our range are used for this application, PU200 is by far the most widely used around the world but PX768E is also suitable.

The diagram opposite depicts a cross-section for a typical loop installation in the UK. Once cut the slot needs to be dried and any residual debris needs to be cleared. The sensor is then installed into the bottom of the slot as per the current specification with the tails being taken off to the control cabinet. Once the installation is complete the slot is backfilled with resin usually to 10mm above the top cable in all instances, this is then topped off with hot pour bitumen as indicated. The main resin we promote from our range for all standard applications is PU204. If the application involves a porous road surface then we would recommend our Porous Road Resined Backfill PX768F for the main backfill which is then topped off with our PX768E. Unlike installations in a standard road surface no bitumen is used on a porous road installation.
A typical installation uses 10 kits per lane. |
